THE MILLION POEMS SHOW
with host Jordan Davis and
house band JJ Appleton.

Next show, June 14, 6:30 p.m.:
Bob Holman.

Q. WHAT IS THE MILLION POEMS SHOW?
A. The Million Poems Show is
poetry's revenge on television -- or vice versa -- a new format mixing talk, reading, collaboration, and audience participation. No podium, no self-flattering exegesis, no "I'll read two more" -- just some of the best poets around reading ten minutes of their best work. What poets might those be? Terrance Hayes, Susan Wheeler, Anselm Berrigan, Daniel Nester, Jeni Olin, and Ange Mlinko have all been on the show; musical guests have included Franklin Bruno, Walter Salas-Humara (of the Silos), and Leslie Mendelson.

Q. WHY IS IT CALLED THE MILLION
POEMS SHOW?

A. In 1990 I had a dream in which I was instructed to write a million poems, which I immediately set out to do. Along the way there are: two books,

Million Poems Journal and The Moon Is Moving; my blog where you can keep track of my progress in real-time; and now, logically enough, the Million Poems Show.

Q. WHERE AND WHEN CAN I SEE IT?
A. Bowery Poetry Club (1st and Bowery) one Wednesday a month at 6:30pm. See the schedule.

Check back for updates about our Fall 2006 College Tour.

Q. HOW CAN I BE A GUEST ON THE SHOW?
A. Drop me an email.
